El Paso City Council has approved a $26 million construction contract to extend Sean Haggerty Drive in Northeast El Paso, awarding the project to Jordan Foster Construction, LLC.

The project will connect Nathan Bay Drive to Dyer Street, creating a vital new transportation link designed to ease traffic flow in the fast-growing area. Plans include construction of a new four-lane bridge, roadway approaches, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, decorative street lighting, a canopy bridge structure, and upgraded drainage systems.

As part of El Paso’s “Complete Street” initiative, the extension will feature bike lanes, ADA-compliant sidewalks, landscaping with tree irrigation, and dark-sky friendly street lighting. City officials say the project is designed to improve accessibility for all modes of transportation while benefiting residents, businesses, and the broader community.

Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2025. City leaders emphasized that the extension underscores El Paso’s commitment to strengthening its regional transportation network.
